Founder's Update - Julia CharityPhoto of Founder, Dr Julia Charity

A very warm welcome to you all but especially to our new hosts all over New Zealand. Lot of news this time with the launch of our new webite, our refreshed brand and lots of Press Coverage all over New Zealand.

What's New at Look After Me

Website upgrade: A few months ago we upgraded our website. The changes have made it easier for hosts to load property information and to make edits. It is also easier for guests to  find accommodation by searching lists, or looking at Maps.

We have done our best to iron out any blips before going live, but if you discover something not working as well as it should - we'd be most grateful if you told us about it so we can fix it straight away.

Refreshed brand: We've kept our 'Lady in the Hammock' logo but given her a newLook After Me Logo - Lady in the Hammock (Ahu) look and colour. We ran a competition on our website and on Facebook and took a public vote to decide her name. We 'christened' her Ahu - a beautiful Maori name that means 'to look after.'

Shop Banner Webshop: We also wanted to make it easier for you to order supplies, like the toiletries and confectionery for guests, so we've added a 'shop' to our Website. Please check it out by clicking this banner - we've got lots of 'FREE' stuff on there for hosts like our business cards, flyers and Compendium Covers.

Official Partner of the NZ Cycle Trail: We are proud to announce our  partnership as an official accommodation provider to the NZ Cycle Trail - a network of 16 trails all around New Zealand. Please contact us if your property meets our minimum criteria of:
  1.  lock up storage, like a garage;
  2.  bike washing facility (a hose);
  3. knowledge of where cyclists can get repairs and
  4. a willingness to carry cycle trail information.
We will add your property to our search term 'NZ Cycle Trail' and put a special logo on your property profile.

Host only Event - Look After Me Long Lunch 17 March 2013
Save the date! Sunday 17 March 2013.
12 noon - 2.00 pm,
Look After Me Long Lunch,  Rotorua.

Come to Rotorua and make a weekend of it! We have planned this weekend around the International Festival of Walking (Saturday and Sunday). We have also booked a special cruise on Lake Rotoiti at fantastic price and/or an early morning fishing cruise for any one keen to join in.

There will also be an opportunity to visit a few of the Rotorua based Look After Me homes.

The Look After Me Long Lunch will be a special fundraiser for the 'Sleeping Bag Project' - raising funds to buy sleeping gear for the homeless.

We'll send you full details in January, but if you can't wait, please email us, and we'll send you the invitation and details right now.

How you can help...
Thanks to all our hosts for these great ideas about promoting our accommodation to potential guests. Working together ensures we actively encouraging guests to try homestay.
  1. Check your profile is up to date and is well presented. We advise that you ask  3 - 5 friends to check your profile and give you honest feedback on presentation and price. Sometimes changing a single photo has given hosts new bookings!
  2. Are there events in your area coming up? Let's work together to promote Look After Me as a provider for accommodation for that event. Please send us an email and let us know.
  3. Would you like a snazzy new 'Look After Me' signature at the bottom of your email? Let us know and we'll send you one of our templates where you can add in your address, a photograph of your property.
  4. Some of our hosts are using our templates to create their own flyers and business cards! We supply standard ones for free, or the templates for you to customise and print (at your own expense).
  5. Connect with us on FaceBook, like our page and others will hopefully see our promotions and deals.
  6. If you or anyone in your family is travelling, why not book Look After Me accommodation. It really is beautiful, affordable and memorable!
