“There's something so magical about the far North of New Zealand! Inspiring and majestic forests, stunning beaches and engaging with local Maori culture. We highly recommend coming to stay with Lisa and William - you'll just love it! With hearts of gold, warm, social and aroha (love) abound, you'll...”
Julia Charity - Founder's note

“It's amazing to have such warmth in the middle of the freezing NZ winter on a farm, William and Lisa were great hosts and I think 2 nights weren't enough to experience the best of the Northland. I had a really tranquil experience at their place and will definitely be back one day! If anyone's...”

“How to begin with ? Right, the Mcnab family : you could'nt find people nicer, more welcoming. It has been so nice talking about life, about NZ, about our lives and experiences with them ! You can feel that you have found a new family! The only regret is not having had the possibility to stay longer...”

Diggers Valley Homestay - Kaitaia

Classic
About this place

Modern home in Northland near Kaitaia but rural enough to be considered "out in the sticks" with bi-lingual hosts offering 2 rooms as accommodation. One room has a queen size bed and the other has twin single beds, although could be altered to one double and one single on request. This place is perfect for a relaxing getaway "up north" that's fairly handy to many Northland features. With a beautiful outlook in a natural setting and hosts Lisa and William are keen to share a Maori cultural experience as they are bi-lingual (English and Maori speaking). This affordable homestay is perfect for international travellers looking to incorporate a wide array of experiences all beautiful Northland has to offer. While visiting Kaitaia, you really must visit the Herekino Forest which is home to many rare and threatened species. There is also a track in the Herekino Forest that leads through the forest forming part of the Te Araroa Pathway - a system of walks that extend along the length of New Zealand. Lisa and William may also direct you to the Raetea Forest to explore the beautiful Mangamuka Scenic Reserve which contains one of the highest quality waterways left in Northland, the Mangamuka stream.
